Representative Callender, Lakeland Community College Announce State Approval of Capital Funding
State Rep. Jamie Callender (R-Concord) and Lakeland Community College are announcing the approval of more than $1.8 million in state capital funding by the State Controlling Board earlier today. These funds will be used to update equipment in Lakeland's Engineering Technology classrooms with equipment found in today's manufacturing industry.
“The funds approved today by the Controlling Board for Lakeland will help meet a critical need,” said Callender. “As we begin the recovery from COVID-19 and its impacts, it is important that the institutions focused on preparing our youth for today’s economy, have the equipment and infrastructure in place to meet demand. These dollars will help ensure that Lakeland is in the best possible position to support the students of Lake County to achieve their goals.”
Today’s approved dollars will help facilitate hands-on training for students pursuing certificates and associate degrees in the engineering technology fields of computer integrated manufacturing, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, and industrial welding.
