Controlling Board Releases Funds for Lakeland Community College

COLUMBUS – State Representative Jamie Callender (R – Concord) announces the Ohio Controlling Board has release more than $169,000 to the Lakeland Community College.

The funding, through the Lakeland’s Workforce Based Training Grant program, will go towards capital improvements for student enrolled in nursing, nurse assistant, surgical tech, medical assisting, dental hygiene, histotechnology and geospatial technology programs. These programs are estimated to serve 390 students annually. 

“Ensuring that our students have access to the latest equipment being used in their field is key to creating job ready graduates,” said Callender. “With in job openings in many fields, ensuring that the residents of Lake County are not only ready to fill these positions but succeed day one is critical to maintaining Lake County as a leader in technical excellence”.

With continued high demand in the medical and surveying fields, this capital investment will ensure that Lake County’s residents are able to meet the demands of employers in northeast Ohio.

The Ohio Controlling Board is the financial legislative oversight for capital and operating expenditures by state agencies. The next controlling board meeting is scheduled for Feb. 27.
