Callender to Chair House Finance Sub Committee on Infrastructure and American Rescue Plan
COLUMBUS – State Representative Jamie Callender (R-Concord) was appointed to chair the House Finance Subcommittee on Infrastructure and American Rescue Plan by Speaker Jason Stephens (R-Kitts Hill) Tuesday.
This new committee, formed for the 135th General Assembly, will focus on managing Ohio’s infrastructure spending and the remaining $4 billion in American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funds during the upcoming budget process.
Finance subcommittees are created to help with the passing of the state operating budget, which must be passed this year. These subcommittees will hold hearings with state agencies and interested parties to make recommendations to the House Finance Committee about how best to use State resources.
“Ensuring prudent use of taxpayer money is one of the core functions of the State Legislature,” said Callender. “I look forward to once again having the opportunity to work with my colleagues over the next several months as we compile the State Operating Budget.”
Callender has served as a member of the House Finance Committee for the past three terms, once as the chair. He will also serve as the chairman to the Joint Committee on Agency Rules Review for the 135th General Assembly.
