Ohio Governor Signs Bill to Designate Local Memorial Bridge and Viaduct
COLUMBUS—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine recently signed House Bill 81 from the 135th General Assembly into Ohio law, announced State Rep. Jim Hoops (R-Napoleon). Incorporated into the bill was House Bill 458, legislation sponsored by Hoops to designate a memorial bridge and viaduct in the Village of Montpelier.
More specifically, the bill will designate the bridge located along the St. Joseph River on State Route 107 as the “Gold and Blue Star Family Memorial Bridge.”
“The designation of this bridge linking State Route 107 with the Village of Montpelier will serve both as a tribute to Gold and Blue Star Families and as a beacon of awareness to motorists reminding us all of the costs we owe for freedom,” said Hoops.
The bill will also designate the viaduct along the railroad tracks in Montpelier as the “POW/MIA Memorial Viaduct.”
“This designation will honor the valiance and bravery of former and current prisoners of war and those missing in action,” said Hoops.
