Rep. Daniels Announces Public Comment Period for the E-Check Ease Act
COLUMBUS, OH— State Representative Jack Daniels (R-New Franklin) is calling on residents to weigh in on a proposed overhaul of the state’s vehicle emissions testing system, as the public comment period for the E-Check Ease Act officially opens.
“For far too long, Northeast Ohio drivers have faced an outdated and inefficient emissions testing system,” said State Representative Jack Daniels (R-New Franklin). “The E-Check Ease Act is a step toward fairness and modernization, and I urge residents to share their input during this critical public comment period.”
The public comment period on the proposal to change the State Implementation Plan for the E-Check Ease Act, incorporated into the state’s transportation budget, is now open, announced Daniels.
Public comments will be accepted at DAPC-Comments@epa.ohio.gov through June 2, 2025. The Ohio EPA will then respond to public comments, after which the package will be sent to the U.S. EPA for review and approval.
The E-Check Ease Act, sponsored by State Representative Bill Roemer, and co-sponsored by Representative Daniels, aims to reduce administrative and financial burden on Ohio drivers by creating an alternative, parallel system where an owner of a motor vehicle may comply with the E-Check program by obtaining an alternative emissions certificate.
