House Committee Passes Legislation to Designate Captain Joshua Michael McClimans Memorial Highway
COLUMBUS—State Representatives Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) and Jack Daniels (R-New Franklin) are pleased to announce that legislation to designate Captain Joshua Michael McClimans Memorial Highway passed out of the House Transportation Committee.
House Bill 259, spearheaded by Roemer and Daniels, will name a portion of State Route 241 in Green, Ohio in honor of Captain McClimans, a U.S. army veteran who was killed in active duty while deployed in Afghanistan in 2011.
“My father’s legacy of commitment and dedication to this nation, and to the State of Ohio through his selfless service will resonate in the hearts of grateful Ohioans,” said Emily McClimans, daughter of Captain McClimans, before the committee. “I truly had the best father. I wish he could have seen me graduate, met my children, or celebrated life victories with me, but I am certain that he is with me every step of the way, guiding me and paving a path for his legacy to live on.”
Captain McClimans was a registered nurse and played an integral role providing life-saving measures while deployed in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
“Captain McClimans is a true hero,” said Roemer. “I’m honored to have had the opportunity to learn about his story, meet his family, and ensure his legacy lives on for generations to come.”
“This memorial highway will serve as a reminder of the legacy of bravery and selflessness left behind by Captain McClimans,” said Daniels. “May we always remember and honor the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much for us all!”
House Bill 259 now moves to the House floor for a vote.
