COLUMBUS- State Representative Jack Daniels (R-New Franklin) today announced the creation of the Ohio Trucking Caucus.

The trucking industry is a vital pillar of Ohio’s economy, transporting goods worth billions annually, connecting manufacturers, retailers, and consumers within the state and across the nation. This industry also employs thousands of Ohioans, from drivers to logistics coordinators, mechanics, and warehouse workers.

“The trucking industry affects most lives in the state of Ohio, and I am honored to be able to create and Chair the States’s first Trucking Caucus,” said Daniels. “I am excited to see what this coalition will be able to accomplish not only during this General Assembly, but for many more to come!”

The goal of the coalition is to propose and champion policy that not only supports truckers, but industries across the state that utilize logistical services. Industries like manufacturing, retail, e-commerce, construction, and agriculture all count on truck drivers to transport and deliver their products to consumers.

“The mission of the Ohio Trucking Association is to enhance the public image and economic growth of our members by promoting safety, innovation, and professionalism,” said Tom Balzer, President and CEO of the Ohio Trucking Association.  “Through our Team 88 grassroots initiative, which connects our members directly with their hometown legislators, we are excited to supplement that work with the Ohio Trucking Caucus to continue moving the needle in a direction that supports the trucking industry.”

State Representative Elgin Rogers Jr. (D-Toledo), Senator Shane Wilkin (R-Hillsboro), Senator Bill DeMora (D-Columbus), Tom Balzer, President and CEO of the Ohio Trucking Association, and Jay Sewell, President and CEO, Sewell Motor Express were all in attendance of the press conference Wednesday.
