State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari (R-Perrysburg) supports the announcement made on Thursday for Abbot to build its new, half-billion-dollar facility in Bowling Green to add more supply of specialty and metabolic formulas in Bowling Green.
“I’m a big supporter of this initiative to boost our economic development, our manufacturing industry, and create more good-paying jobs for the benefit of our communities and residents of Wood County,” Ghanbari said.
In total, Abbott will invest over $500 million in the facility to create 450 new jobs across Northwest Ohio.
The new facility planned for 2027 will bring additional capacity to the U.S. supply of specialty and metabolic formulas. These formulas can serve as the sole source of nutrition for people with extreme allergies to most food products and other dietary and metabolic conditions.
Bowling Green was selected for a variety of reasons, including proximity to our suppliers, available land that met our criteria, transportation links, a qualified workforce, and a strong partnership with state and local officials that’s conducive to business.
