COLUMBUS — State Rep. Erika White (D-Springfield Township) yesterday introduced a concurrent resolution to encourage Governor Mike DeWine and other entities to recognize Workers Memorial Day in the state of Ohio.

The resolution encourages the governor to issue an annual proclamation recognizing Workers Memorial Day and encourages other organizations to increase awareness and education pertaining to workplace safety.

“Every worker deserves to come home safe at the end of the day. This concurrent resolution makes clear that workplace safety is not optional - it is a moral obligation and a public responsibility. Safety means protecting workers physically, supporting mental health, and ensuring the dignity of a workplace where people are valued,” said Rep. White. “By urging an annual proclamation of Workers’ Memorial Day and expanding education and awareness, we honor those we have lost, stand with families forever changed, and recommit ourselves to preventing tragedies before they happen. The strongest economy is one where workers are protected in both body and mind. Respecting workers means protecting workers across Ohio.”

The concurrent resolution now awaits a number and committee assignment.
