Rep. White Continues to Encourage Constituents to Join Upcoming Unclaimed Funds Resource Workshop

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Erika White (D-Springfield Township) today announced that she will be continuing her ongoing effort to help Ohioans locate and claim unclaimed funds by connecting residents with an upcoming¿virtual state resource workshop¿designed to guide constituents through the unclaimed funds process. 

The virtual workshop will take place virtually on¿Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, and will provide step-by-step guidance for individuals seeking to determine whether unclaimed funds are owed to them and how to begin the claims process. 

“Many Ohioans are owed money and just aren’t aware of it,” said Rep. White. “By connecting residents to workshops and state resources, we can help ensure people are able to access what’s rightfully theirs.”

The upcoming virtual workshop will walk participants through how to search the database, begin a claim, and understand what documentation may be required. Residents of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to attend. 

Earlier in¿June and September 2025, Rep. White connected local residents with¿in-person informational sessions focused on unclaimed funds in coordination with¿Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE). These sessions drew strong community interest, as Ohio currently holds¿billions of dollars in unclaimed assets¿— money reported to the state after accounts or financial instruments have remained inactive for years and whose owners could not initially be located. These assets may include forgotten bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance proceeds, or utility deposits.

Local media highlighted Rep. White’s efforts to raise awareness about unclaimed funds, particularly as changes in state timelines have made it increasingly important for residents to act to recover money rightfully owed to them. Many attendees at the earlier sessions discovered they had unclaimed funds they were previously unaware of, reinforcing the importance of continued outreach and education.
