Rep. Jarrells Celebrates Governor DeWine's Ohio Recovery Friendly Workplace Program
COLUMBUS — State Rep. Dontavius Jarrells (D-Columbus) today celebrates the August 30th launch of Governor Mike DeWine’s Ohio Recovery Friendly Workplace designation through the RecoveryOhio initiative. This program aims to create job opportunities for people in recovery from substance abuse disorders and mental health conditions, while combating the stigma around addiction and mental illness and boosting the economy through local businesses.
“I applaud Governor DeWine for starting this program in Ohio in time for September’s National Recovery Month,” said Rep. Jarrells. “When businesses invest in the wellbeing of their employees and provide the resources and support they need, the whole community will profit.”
Nearly 20% of adult Ohioans reported having a substance use disorder, most of which are employed. By receiving this designation and providing resources and support to their employees, businesses can expect to see increased efficiency, fewer unplanned absences, lower healthcare costs, and decreased turnover, along with other extensive economic benefits.
