Rep. Jarrells announces over $9 million in new capital funds for House District 25 and Franklin County
COLUMBUS – State Representative Dontavius Jarrells (D-Columbus) announced the passage of the capital budget, House Bill (HB) 687, by the Ohio House of Representatives. The capital budget appropriates resources to state owned infrastructure, colleges, universities, and school districts as well as other community projects. The capital budget is typically passed every two years with this year’s budget appropriating over $3.5 billion to counties across Ohio with $191 million being allocated to community projects.
“I’m proud to help bring this critical funding back to our communities,” said Rep. Jarrells. “From increasing access to healthy food to providing housing for vulnerable youth, these funds will help ensure all constituents in House District 25 have the opportunity to succeed.”
Rep. Jarrells helped to secure $850,000 in funding for a number of community projects, including:
$ 500,000 dollars for the York Masonic Temple renovations;
$ 200,000 dollars for repairs to the Star House;
$ 100,000 dollars for the YWCA family center;
$ 50,000 dollars for Linden Fresh food access and nutrition.
Rep. Jarrells advocated for $8,200,000 in funding for a number of projects of countywide significance, including:
$ 900,000 for I am Boundless Health campus expansion;
$ 2,000,000 for the Columbus Symphony Orchestra
$ 2,250,000 for the Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio;
$ 1,500,000 for the Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland STEM and Leadership Immersion Campus;
$600,000 for Zora’s House;
$ 500,000 for Goodwill Columbus;
$ 350,000 for the Columbus Museum of Art;
$ 100,000 for the Columbus College of Art and Design Youth and Community Learning Hub.
