Rep. Brewer Reflects on Tragic Akron Mass Shooting

COLUMBUS- State Rep. Darnell Brewer (D-Cleveland) today released the following statement on the tragic mass shooting in Akron that left one killed and dozens injured:

“This past week in Akron, one individual was killed, and several members of the community were injured, including some critically. I mourn the loss of life and pray for a speedy recovery of the individuals, families, and community members affected by this mass shooting,” said Rep. Brewer. “Yet again, I am asking this legislative body to consider, provide hearings, and eventually pass HB 420 and HB 421. HB 421 would require us to look deeply into the cause, cost, and prevention of incidents like the one in Akron. HB 420 would provide funding for trauma care and organizations that address cycles of violence and teach de-escalation techniques. Again, I urge this body to consider HB 420 and HB 421.”
