COLUMBUS — State Representative Daniel Troy (D-Willowick) Monday announced that the Ohio Controlling Board has approved a $197,741 grant to Lakeland Community College as a part of the FY25-26 Campus Safety Grant Program. These funds will be used for physical security improvements such as security cameras, fencing, lighting, door locks, portable surveillance trailers, and more.

“Ensuring the safety of students attending our higher education institutions is of the utmost importance. Their quest for a better future should not be compromised by concerns for their personal safety. I am glad that we are able to make these funds available to address this issue,” said Rep. Daniel Troy.

The Controlling Board also approved funding for two local park projects in Lake County. The City of Mentor will receive $29,900 to construct a new pavilion on La Luna Drive at the Mentor Lagoons Nature Preserve and Public Marina, and the Village of Timberlake will receive $25,152 to update its playground equipment to increase its accessibility and inclusivity for children with disabilities.

“These dollars will help these two local communities in my district improve recreational access and enjoyment for their citizens,” said Rep. Daniel Troy.

Other approved Controlling Board items include:

  • $2.1M in funding to the State Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) and Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) of Ohio
  • $400k in federal funding to support Lake Erie restoration projects
