COLUMBUS – State Rep. Daniel Troy (D-Willowick) today announced that The City of Wickliffe will receive a $606,900 grant to install lining inside a 10-inch sanitary sewer 3,968 feet in length along Drenik Drive in the city.

As a result of citywide smoke testing and flow monitoring of the sanitary sewer system, it was determined that the Drenik Drive sewer is one of the major sources of infiltration and inflow in the city. This project will help reduce the amount of stormwater infiltrating the system, and 448 Wickliffe residents will benefit from this project.

“I have consistently advocated for more attention and increased state and federal funding to address our aging underground infrastructure (water and sewer lines). We can readily observe the deterioration of our above ground infrastructure, e.g. roads and bridges, but wear and tear on these vital underground environmental components is often invisible. Thanks to the proper investigation and analysis by City of Wickliffe officials, they made the case for these grant dollars to be awarded to reduce this infiltration of storm water into the sanitary sewer,” Rep. Troy stated.

Rep. Troy indicated that he will continue to fight for more state and federal dollars to assist the local governments in his district in addressing the repair and replacement of this aging underground infrastructure.
