Ohio House of Representatives Jewish Caucus Condemns West Chester Tea Party for Hosting Antisemitic Speaker
COLUMBUS – State Reps. Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) and Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati) of the House of Representatives Jewish Caucus today released a joint statement condemning the West Chester Tea Party for a recent event it held featuring a speaker who delivered an antisemitic presentation containing dangerous conspiracy theories.
“Acts of antisemitism are rising at a shocking rate across our country, and Ohio is sadly no stranger to that hate,” said Reps. Weinstein and Isaacsohn. “We strongly condemn the West Chester Tea Party for giving the antisemitic coward Harald Zieger a platform and we call on it to denounce his deplorable address, remove any record of his remarks and any other hateful content from its websites, and to apologize to the Great Cincinnati Jewish Community for hosting him.
Amplifying these disgusting lies only normalizes antisemitism and continues to put Jews everywhere in danger. We need more unity and less hate, and we call on our colleagues to join with us in denouncing this group and committing to more inclusion and understanding."
As reported by The Cincinnati Enquirer, the West Chester Tea Party hosted Zieger at its monthly meeting on September 5th where he gave an antisemitic presentation claiming Jewish people control the economy, media, and government. The West Chester Tea Party has a history of sharing antisemitic content to its websites, social media pages and digital mailing list.
