Rep. Lett, House Dems Call on Governor DeWine to Veto Anti-Economic, Anti-Workers' Rights Senate Bill 1
COLUMBUS — State Rep. Crystal Lett (D-Columbus) Wednesday along with other members of the Ohio House Democratic Caucus sent a letter to Governor Mike DeWine respectfully requesting he veto Senate Bill (SB) 1, the Higher Education Destruction Act.
“Not only does SB 1 create an unprecedented amount of government oversight and unnecessary micromanagement of Ohio’s public colleges and universities, it is one of the most harmful bills to Ohio’s laborers in the history of our legislature. If the hundreds of students and university faculty testifying against SB 1 did not convince you, let the significant amount of feedback we received from labor unions alert you to how dangerous this bill is for Ohio. SB 1 blatantly infringes on collective bargaining rights and I call on Governor DeWine to prevent this from becoming law,” said Rep. Lett.
In trying to solve problems that do not exist, SB 1 creates new issues that will increase costs, stifle growth, and prevent Ohio’s young adults from reaching their full potential.
