Abrams Highlights Violent Crime Reduction Funding for Hamilton County
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Cindy Abrams (R-Harrison) celebrates that $263,106 will be awarded to the Hamilton County Heroin Task Force. The funding will come from the Ohio Violent Crime Reduction Grant Program.
“Unfortunately, we have seen an uptick in drug-related crimes and deaths in Hamilton County over the last several years,” Abrams said. “This funding is a very important step in combating these crises.”
Abrams supports this funding in its efforts to aid the Hamilton County Heroin Task Force in confiscating illegally purchased guns, investigating drug-related deaths and overdoses, and improving drug trafficking prevention.
“I was proud to support this grant program through legislation at the statehouse, and am very pleased to know the impact it will have on so many members of the Hamilton County community,” Abrams added.
Abrams supported HB 110, the state operating budget, which is funding this program. In total, the program will award nearly $100 million to local law enforcement agencies.
So far, this program has awarded roughly $70 million in funding to 146 law enforcement agencies throughout the state through six rounds. The $11.7 million in awards from the most recent round of funding will go to 24 separate agencies.
