COLUMBUS – House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today announced that the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce has released funding for the expansion of career education programs in the Upper Arlington school district. These funds were passed as part of the state operating budget for FY2024.

“Career-readiness is an essential aspect of student success,” said Leader Russo. “By providing students with a strong foundation of technical knowledge and employable skills, CTE classes complement the knowledge gained from academic studies, and prepare students for opportunities in both college and vocation.”

The Ohio Career Technical Education Equipment Grant Program awards competitive grants to schools that provide career technical education (CTE) programs, with priority funding for programs that support careers on Ohio's Top Jobs List or programs from the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation Innovative Workforce Incentive Program. These grants provide funding for equipment, instructional materials, facilities, and operational costs.

All junior and senior students attending Upper Arlington schools have the opportunity to enroll in CTE studies. In addition to their academic requirements, these students take specialized classes in their chosen field. CTE programs in Upper Arlington schools span 16 career fields, including engineering, healthcare, and culinary arts.
