COLUMBUS – State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) announced that the State Controlling Board approved $320,821 to support first responders diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder arising from their employment.  The Ohio Post-Traumatic Stress Fund was created by House Bill (HB) 308 in the 133rd General Assembly, and it is a long-standing Democratic priority that helps pay lost wages and medical costs to public safety officers resulting from disability caused by PTSD.

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) issued the following statement after Attorney General Dave Yost released an opinion Tuesday on the meaning of a law that appears to bar election officials from collaborating with non-governmental persons or entities on voting initiatives. The opinion states that election officials could be subject to first-degree misdemeanor or fourth-degree felony charges for collaborating with voter advocates.

State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) testified Wednesday on House Bill (HB) 68, her bipartisan legislation with State Rep. Jon Cross (R-Kenton) to ensure that prime contractors are paid promptly and construction projects can move forward across the State of Ohio. The bill passed the House with a strong, bipartisan vote of 86 to 11.

Today, Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) announced that the state Controlling Board approved several major items this week, including the allocation of a combined $49.3 million from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 to provide support for students and young adults with disabilities, enhance local health departments’ COVID-19 vaccination efforts, mitigate COVID-19 outbreaks, fulfill needs of older Ohioans, help Ohioans with mental illness, decrease youth homelessness, and boost ongoing planning and project development efforts in Appalachia.

Today, Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) voted in favor of Substitute House Bill (HB) 169 to appropriate $4.18 billion to support education, expand access to childcare and improve public health, among other investments in Ohio’s working people, families and communities amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The bill is funded through several federal COVID-19 relief packages, the majority of which comes from the American Rescue Plan Act backed by Democrats and signed into law by President Biden earlier this year.
