COLUMBUS – Ohio House Democrats today celebrate the passage of the bipartisan Operating Budget (HB 33) by the House of Representatives. The revised two-year budget bill outlines spending of $88 billion in state dollars, prioritizing improvements in public education funding and teacher pay, expansion of Medicaid coverage and other healthcare areas, expansion in childcare capacity and programs, and upgraded funding for local government infrastructure projects.

State Reps. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) and Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) gave sponsor testimony on their anti-corruption legislation, which would require dark money groups to identify their contributors and disclose their spending.

Ohio House Democrats today call the passage of the $13.5 billion Ohio Transportation Budget (HB 23) by the House of Representatives an intricate plan for the future that will create jobs and help grow Ohio’s economy. It passed with unanimous Democratic Caucus support.

State Representatives Juanita O. Brent (D-Cleveland) and Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today sent a letter to Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose urging him to engage a third party firm to audit his recent voter purge. The purge revealed over 16,000 voters were initially mislabeled as ineligible to vote.
