Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) announced today that the state Controlling Board approved several items of note this week, including the allocation of $35.6 million to purchase rapid COVID-19 testing kits and $8 million from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) to support local health departments and mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Reps. Brown, Sweeney Introduce Legislation to Give National Guard Members $1,000 Democracy Bonus

COLUMBUS — State Reps. Richard D. Brown (D-Canal Winchester) and Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) today introduced the Democracy Bonus Act, legislation providing a one-time $1,000 dollar bonus to all Ohio National Guard and State Defense Force Members who served in any full-time role after the Governor’s declared state of emergency on March 9, 2020.

Rep. Sweeney introduces Election Engagement Restoration Act to repeal hastily-passed bans on most election official assistance with voting activity

COLUMBUS — State Representative Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) today introduced the Election Engagement Restoration Act, legislation repealing two hastily-passed obstacles to voting that were tacked onto the two-thousand page state operating budget at the last minute and became law without any public input.

Rep. Sweeney announces $19 billion for Ohio's schools and other projects to support Ohioans

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) today announced that her bipartisan House Bill 1, the Fair School Funding Plan, was signed into law as part of the state operating budget. Historic legislation jointly sponsored with Rep. Jamie Callender (R-Concord), House Bill 1 finally addresses Ohio’s broken school funding system, which the Ohio Supreme Court found unconstitutional four times, beginning with the original DeRolph decision in 1997.
