Rep. Sweeney Urges Leaders to Stop Exploiting Ohio National Guard, Focus on Real Problems Facing Ohioans
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today released to following statement concerning Governor Mike DeWine’s decision to send 150 National Guard members to Washington D.C. at the behest of President Trump:
“The Ohio National Guard was created to protect Ohioans during times of true crisis. The brave men and women who wear the uniform step forward when disaster strikes, supporting communities in the aftermath of extreme weather, natural disasters, and during moments of real danger. Their courage and sacrifice should never be exploited by turning them into pawns for President Trump’s political theatre, staged to distract from his ongoing political corruption & personal misconduct.
Ohioans – and Americans everywhere – deserve leaders who are focused on finding bipartisan solutions to the real problems we face: lowering costs, strengthening our economy, and keeping our local communities safe. I urge Ohio’s leaders in Washington to put an end to these political stunts and join Ohio Democrats in addressing the real problems facing Ohio workers & families here at home,” said Rep. Sweeney.
