Rep. Sweeney announces passage of state capital budget, secures $23.8 million in new community project funding across Cuyahoga County
COLUMBUS – State Representative Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Cleveland) announced the passage of House Bill 687 yesterday, the Capital Appropriations Budget for Fiscal Years 2023 and 2024. The capital budget makes appropriations for state-owned infrastructure, colleges, universities, and school districts as well as other community projects.
“As the ranking Democratic member on the House Finance Committee, I was honored to be part of crafting the newly-passed state capital budget,” said Rep. Sweeney. “This bipartisan $3.5 billion dollar bill will make smart investments in our future, deliver tangible results in our communities and bring tax dollars home to Cuyahoga County.”
The capital budget is typically passed every 2 years, with this year’s budget appropriating over $3.5 billion across the State of Ohio. It also includes $191 million for impactful local community projects, which is the largest allocation for community projects in at least the last ten years. Cuyahoga County received the most community project funding of any county.
Rep. Sweeney helped secure $23.8 million in funding for 70 community projects across Cuyahoga County, including:
