Rep. Sweeney Announces $5M for Cycling, Pedestrian Infrastructure Improvements in Cuyahoga County
COLUMBUS — State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today announced that two projects in Cuyahoga County received nearly $5M in grants to reconfigure pedestrian and cycling infrastructure on the west side. The City of Lakewood will receive $2.94M for bike lanes and shared paths as part of the larger Bunts Road Rehabilitation Project and Cuyahoga County will receive $2M to add a pedestrian and bike greenway along the north side of Clifton Road between Lakewood and Rocky River.
“Bike and pedestrian pathways help stitch together the fabric of our communities,” said Rep. Sweeney. “In addition to reducing the County’s carbon footprint and noise levels, investing in bike lanes and shared paths strengthens our community network and creates a transportation infrastructure that works for all residents–not just those with vehicles.”
The grants are awarded through the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) Transportation Alternatives Program, which provides funding to local communities to prioritize non-vehicle infrastructure upgrades and projects.
