Rep. Sweeney Announces $148K for Trail Around Rocky River Senior Center

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) Monday announced that the Ohio Controlling Board approved $148K in Clean Ohio Trail Fund Grants for the purpose of constructing a trail around the Rocky River Senior Center.
“I’m excited to see these funds make Rocky River’s beautiful trails more accessible for community members,” said Rep. Sweeney. “With this funding, we are making an enduring investment in the Rocky River community, helping seniors in Rocky River spend more time outdoors with their family, friends, and neighbors.”
The Rocky River Senior Center provides vital community resources for seniors, including transportation to medical appointments and personal errands, blood pressure screenings every Monday, monthly hearing screenings, and classes on a wide range of topics, such as art, language, exercise, and technology.
The funding is part of over $4M dollars that the Controlling Board approved for 11 Clean Ohio Trail Fund Grant projects across the state. As ranking member of the House Finance Committee, Rep. Sweeney helped secure $12.5M in the 135th General Assembly Capital Budget for the Clean Ohio Trail Fund to invest in recreational trail projects throughout Ohio.
Other approved items include:
-
- $3.5M for the Western Campus Heating and Cooling Replacement Project at Cuyahoga Community College;
- $2M to the Department of Education and Workforce to support literacy initiatives; and
- $1.8M for tech start-up companies, including Cyrannus Inc in Bay Village.
