Speaker of the Ohio House Matt Huffman (R-Lima) today announced that legislation updating Ohio’s marijuana laws and addressing the issue of intoxicating hemp passed with bipartisan support through the Ohio House of Representatives. Senate Bill 56 preserves the legal, adult-use marijuana provisions approved by voters in Issue 2 in 2023, while also adding needed protections for Ohio’s children.

Sub. House Bill 96 – the State Operating Budget. The conservative, balanced and commonsense budget plan, which allocates funding for state programs and operations for the next two years, approves historic property tax relief for Ohioans, implements a flat tax rate and provides a record amount of state funding for school districts. 

State Representative Brian Stewart (R-Ashville) announced that legislation he jointly sponsored with State Representative Latyna Humphrey (D-Columbus) passed through the Ohio House with bipartisan, unanimous support earlier this month.  House Bill 31 requires the electronic recording of all Ohio Parole Board hearings and ensures that those records are available upon request from members of the public.
