Peterson Announces Drinking Water Infrastructure Grants for Six Local Communities

May 19, 2023
Bob Peterson News

COLUMBUS— State Rep. Bob Peterson (R-Sabina) today announced that six local public water systems will receive grants to help pay for equipment needed to maintain and improve drinking water infrastructure.

The grants were a part of Ohio EPA and Governor Mike DeWine’s H20hio Initiative, which awarded a total of $1 million in grants to more than 100 communities across the state. Public water systems across the state were able to apply for up to $10,000 through H2Ohio.

“Clean drinking water is an essential and basic resource that every Ohioan should have readily available,” Peterson said. “Thanks to H2Ohio, six of my local communities are getting much-needed assistance to maintain and improve their drinking water infrastructure. This will greatly help the residents of those communities, while relieving some of the burden from the public water entities.”

Recipients in Peterson’s district include:

·         Chillicothe City Public Water System: $5,995 for leak detectors

·         Hillsboro City: $10,000 for leak amplification devices, portable flow meters

·         Leesburg Village: $9,995 for valve exercisers, water leak detectors

·         Pike Water Inc., Plant Public Water System: $9,770 for pipe and cable locators, leak detectors

·         Washington Court House Public Water System: $9,109 for leak detectors, magnetic locators

·         Waverly City Public Water System: $7,100 for leak locators

The H2Ohio initiative works to improve water infrastructure, reduce harmful algal blooms, and prevent lead contamination.
