Roemer Appointed as Chairman of House Ways and Means Committee
State Rep. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) has been appointed by Ohio House Speaker Jason Stephens (R-Kitts Hill) as Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee for the 135th General Assembly.
“I’m very proud to be able to bring my years of experience in business and at the Statehouse to serve in this leadership capacity as we debate critical bills through this committee over the next two years,” Roemer said.
Roemer will utilize his 40-plus years of experience as a Certified Public Accountant in working to craft tax policies for families and businesses across Ohio. Before being elected to the House, Roemer has been a longtime community leader in Summit County, as he served as a member of Summit County Council and as Vice President of the Summit Educational Service Center Board of Governors, which helps provide important educational services to children throughout the county.
Roemer has a Bachelor of Science Degree in accounting from Case Western Reserve University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the Weatherhead School of Management of Case Western Reserve University. In addition to being a former finance instructor, he worked in regulatory accounting and is a retired AT&T sales director.
During the previous General Assembly, Roemer served as Chair of the Finance Subcommittee on Health and Human Services and as a member of the Commerce and Labor, Financial Institutions, and Ways and Means Committees.
