Roemer Announces City of Norton Recreational Trails Program Funding

State Rep. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) announced Thursday the awarding of federal funding through the Recreational Trails Program (RTP). ODNR administers the federal RTP grant program, which funds non-motorized trails. 

RTP is a reimbursement grant program that provides up to eight percent of projects funding which goes toward:

-Creation and maintenance of trails and trail support facilities

-Improve access for people with disabilities

-Improve education about trail safety and the environement

Applications for funding are evaluated using criteria such as the need for the trail, public participation during design, and trail linkages.

“I was pleased to have received word on this vital funding for the City of Norton,” Roemer stated. “It is imperative that we maintain our trails and general greenspace, and I am confident that these funds will go to good use in that regard.”
