Roemer Announces $340,000 for Local Service Station Clean Up Project

Bill Roemer News

State Rep. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) announces $340,000 was approved at the State Controlling Board meeting today for an abandoned gas station clean up grant for a site in Richfield.

“I am pleased to say I supported the legislation at the Statehouse and worked it through the committee process to secure this critical funding, which will be used for necessary and safe clean up of this service station here in Richfield,” Roemer said. “Mitigating this site will allow for more efficient traffic flow on Brecksville Road.”

The funding stems from House Bill 597, the capital reappropriations bill that Roemer supported and cosponsored in the House Finance Committee and on the House floor. The legislation passed in the House earlier this year and was later signed into law.

The funding is for assessment and cleanup costs to empty or remove underground storage tanks, abatement of asbestos, lead or other contamination, demolition, and site clearance. The clean up and remediation of this gas station is located at 5153 Brecksville Road, Richfield, Ohio 44286.

The next State Controlling Board is scheduled for Oct. 3.
