Representative Roemer Highlights Capital Improvement Projects in Summit and Stark Counties

SUMMIT COUNTY – State Representative Bill Roemer (R – Richfield) this week voted in support of House Bill 687, Ohio’s $3.5 billion construction budget. 

The bill includes $100 million for school safety grants, which will help public and private schools address local building security needs as well as funding for community projects throughout the state. 

“When we invest in our infrastructure, we support jobs and the economy, and lay the foundation for our future. That is what the capital bill unveiled today does. Not only does it support schools, colleges, mental health initiatives, and water and sewer projects, it also funds important community projects in our area. This is a responsible plan that will make a difference,” said Roemer

The following community projects throughout the 38th district have been awarded the below funding allocations: 

  • Ridgewood Road to Hometown Road Connector - Copley
    • $750,000 to design and build a 1.2 mile connector trail
  • Girl Scouts of North East Ohio - STEM Center of Excellence – Boston Township
    • $250,000 for the construction of a 5,000 square foot STEM education facility at Camp Ledgewood
  • North Fork Preserve of Bath
    • $120,000 granted to construct a loop trail and convert a historic home into a public meeting space by renovating the building 
  • Historic Tudor House and Grounds Improvement Project – New Franklin
    • $300,000 will be granted to add a sea wall, trail, outdoor lighting, a pedestrian pier with day-use docks 
  • Oviatt House Restoration – Richfield Village
    • $50,000 to restore the Historic Property making interior and exterior updates 
  • G.A.R. Hall Historic Rehabilitation - Peninsula
    • $50,000 to restore the Historic Property making interior and exterior updates 
  • Hale Farm & Village – Cranz Farm, Bath Township
    • $250,000 granted to restore and repurpose the historic farm into a inn/bed and breakfast 
  • Canal Fulton Community Park - Phase 3
    • $300,000 to construct a playground, splash pad, and make other improvements to the park

The Ohio House of Representative and Ohio Senate have carefully constructed this capital budget to ensure communities throughout the state have access to funding necessary to make Ohio a better place to work live and raise a family.
