COLUMBUS- State Representative Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) presented a resolution to the Norton Band to celebrate their 100th year, boosting morale around the Norton community.

Since 1924, the band program has had hundreds of musicians make appearances at sporting events, concerts, parades, and local events, all adding a great deal of spirit to the Norton community.

“The Norton Band program has challenged generations of hard-working students to perform at high levels with pride, class, and dignity,” said Roemer. “The community and I are proud of the dedication put forth by students, the director, parents, and others to make the band program a continued success.”

“It is an honor to accept this award on behalf of the band members—past and present—who have served as musical ambassadors for the Norton community,” said Jamey Boezi, Director of Norton Bands. “This recognition celebrates a century of commitment, unity, and the lasting impact music has had on generations.”

The Norton Instrumental Music program began in 1924 -1925 as a twelve-member orchestra. Since its inception, the Norton Band program has grown in membership, success, and school pride.
