Akron-Canton Airport Awarded $3.2 Million in Capital Budget
COLUMBUS-State Rep. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) recently toured the Akron-Canton Airport to discuss the transformational funding received from Substitute House Bill 2, in conjunction with State Senator Roegner, the state's two-year construction budget for capital projects across Ohio.
Specifically, the Akron-Canton Airport will receive $3.2 million to build new ramps, which will lead to significant growth in additional employment, hanger space, and tax revenues.
"As Ohio's aviation industry continues to grow, it is important that we have the infrastructure ready and available to accommodate new tenants," said Roemer. "This investment will attract new business into the area, continuing the boom in Ohio's economy and workforce."
“We deeply appreciate Representative Roemer’s desire to support the Akron-Canton Airport as a regional asset, and his work to make this project a reality,” said Ren Camacho, President and CEO of the Akron-Canton Airport. “This funding is critical for our airport. The addition of ramp pavement to the West Side General Aviation Area provides much-needed flexibility for our current and future tenants to expand. This development will create jobs, improve transportation options, enhance educational opportunities, and boost the economic vitality of our community for years to come.”
Ohio Governor DeWine signed the legislation on June 28, supporting the airport's expansion to meet industry needs.
