COLUMBUS – State Representative Bernie Willis (R-Springfield) took the oath of office Tuesday for his first term as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives’ 135th General Assembly. He represents the 74th House District, which encompasses portions of northern and western Clark County.

“It is an honor to be elected to the Ohio House,” said Willis. “I look forward to helping the people of the Clark County and working with my fellow legislators to make Ohio a better place to live, work and raise a family.”

Willis is an adjunct professor in unmanned aviation at Sinclair Community College and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, after which he went on to earn the rank of colonel as a career military pilot flying F-16s and unmanned MQ-1 Predator drones.

He is active in the community as a Clark County Deputy Sheriff, recently resigned board member of the Greater Springfield Partnership and an elder at Fellowship Christian Church.  Col. Willis also serves around the state as a board member of the Miami Valley Military Affairs Association, and as a past-president and current board member of Veterans Empowered through Motorsports in Columbus.

Willis and his wife Lynne have been married for more than 30 years. They have three adult children; Shelby, who is an elementary music teacher, Jon, who is an U.S. Army first lieutenant Apache Helicopter pilot and Noah is a Purdue University student in engineering.
