Willis Supports Override of Governor Veto of HB 68
COLUMBUS –State Representative Bernie Willis (R-Springfield) has voted in favor of overriding the veto of the SAFE Act and Save Women’s Sports Act by Gov. Mike DeWine.
Vetoed by the governor Dec. 29, House Bill 68 will protect children who are experiencing gender dysphoria from sex change procedures including chemical castration through puberty blockers, and invasive surgical procedures. It also includes the Save Women’s Sports Act, which provides safeguards for women’s-only athletic competitions from kindergarten through college.
Willis released the following statement about the vote:
“Overriding this veto was a natural ‘yes’ vote,” said Willis. “We must protect the integrity of women’s sports and Ohio’s children. Voting for this legislation signals to all Ohioans that the Ohio House has heard you and this law will now protect you.”
