Willis Assigned to Additional House Committees
COLUMBUS – Committee assignments have recently been finalized for the 135th General Assembly and State Representative Bernie Willis (R-Springfield) has been appointed to the House Armed Service and Veteran Affairs, Higher Education and Transportation committees.
The additional appointments come after Willis was recently assigned to vice-chair the newly created Aviation and Aerospace Committee.
“As a veteran myself and career military pilot, I look forward to working in these committees to help Ohioans,” said Willis. “These committees will be ground zero for creating impactful legislation that supports our state. I look forward to getting to work for my constituents.”
In addition to serving as a colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, Willis has also served as a board member of the Miami Valley Military Affairs Association and past president and current board member of Veterans Empowered through Motorsports in Columbus. He is also the military representative on the Greater Springfield Partnership Board.
Legislation, once introduced, is assigned to a committee that is topically relevant to the bill. Committee members will hear the legislation, offer suggestions to make the legislation stronger and once completed with the committee process, recommend the legislation move to the House floor for a vote.
