King Successfully Secures Funding for Lake Rock Wall Barrier
COLUMBUS – State Representative Angie King (R-Celina) has successfully secured $2.6 million in state funding of the state Operating Budget to restore the Prairie Creek Treatment Train rock wall barrier on Grand Lake St. Mary’s.
The $2.6 million funding comes from Ohio Department of Natural Resources operational funding.
“Grand Lake St. Mary’s is a major attractor that brings in recreational boaters and local tourism dollars to Mercer County,” said King. “It is vital that we protect this natural resource by maintaining water quality to ensure that the lake remains an attractive destination to visit.”
The Prairie Creek Treatment Train is a natural wetland that helps filter runoff from the surrounding watershed before it enters the lake. This critical wetland helps with the water quality of the lake.
The state Operating Budget was signed by Governor in July of 2023.
