White Applauds Miami Valley Research Park Renovation Funding

March 1, 2021
Andrea White News

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Andrea White (R-Kettering) today applauded the recent approval of funding from the City of Kettering and JobsOhio to renovate a facility at 1900 Founders Drive in Miami Valley Research Park.

The building has been vacant since 2018, and the renovation work through the funding would help bring the facility back to Class A office space. After improvements, the site would be primed for defense contractors looking for space near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, corporate headquarters or regional offices.

“I appreciate the collaboration of JobsOhio, City of Kettering, Dayton Development Coalition, and Industrial Commercial Properties on this project,” said White. “These much-needed renovations will assist Miami Valley Research Park in reaching its full potential to further attract investment in our region.”

Large Class A office space is limited in the area, with no sites with more than 25,000 square feet available in the east Dayton market.

Improvements will include a new commercial parking lot with asphalt pavement, full-depth curbs, landscaped islands, lighting, sidewalks, ADA-compliant curb ramps, and a driveway and sideway connection to Spaulding Drive.

The project was approved for a $600,000 economic incentive grant by Kettering City Council and will also receive support from the JobsOhio Site Inventory Program (OSIP). The program offers grants and low-interest loans to support speculative site and building development projects with no identified end user.
