Holmes Issues Statement on Passing of Mayor Johnson
COLUMBUS—State Rep. Adam Holmes (R-Nashport) issued the following statement on the recent passing of Mayor Tom Johnson from the Village of Somerset:
“Mayor Tom Johnson was a superior community leader and a powerful champion for Somerset and the entire Appalachian region. He committed his perpetual energy to improving the quality of life for others and possessed a real genius for community planning and economic development. Most importantly, Mayor Johnson had the greatest reputation for treating everyone with dignity, respect, and kindness. His legacy is the positive growth and success he created for all of us that he impacted, and he is dearly missed.”
Mayor Johnson was initially elected in 2009 and focused his efforts on infrastructure, economic development, arts and culture programming, and historic and nature preservation throughout the greater Appalachian region.
