COLUMBUS – State Representative Adam Bird (R-New Richmond) today announced that the Clermont County Port Authority will receive significant funding as a part of the Appalachian Community Grant Program. The funding was approved by the Ohio Controlling Board.

“Appalachia makes up a large part of our state, and it’s important that we do our part to provide resources for these regions to continue to succeed,” Bird said.

In the 134th General Assembly, Bird supported House Bill 377 which allocated federal funds to various projects, such as the Appalachian Community Grant Program.

“I was happy to support this initiative in the last General Assembly, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see its benefits making their way to the 63rd House District,” Bird added.

The Clermont County Port Authority is set to receive $981,975 as part of the program’s Appalachian Technical Assistance Grants. The funding will be used for costs associated with various development projects across the region.

The Ohio State Controlling Board is the financial legislative oversight for capital and operating expenditures by state agencies. The next Controlling Board meeting is scheduled for April 3.
