State Representative Riordan McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) today released the following statement about the Ohio Department of Transportation’s (ODOT) proposed Route 23 Improvement Program Plan:

“I have significant concerns regarding the construction of the proposed corridor connecting Route 23 to I-71 and its impact in Morrow and Marion Counties. The preferred alignment suggested would take away nearly 900 acres and 8 homes away from Morrow and Marion County residents. Farms are the backbone of our economy in Ohio, and we shouldn’t take the land that they need to provide for their families. This connector will also have significant disruptions to Marion and Morrow Counties EMS services. I understand that Delaware County is facing a congestion issue for its commuters; however, I think there should be a solution that provides relief for drivers along Route 23 without impacting those who reside in Morrow and Marion Counties.”
