State Representative Click's SAM Act Heads for Governor's Desk

(Columbus, Ohio) – State Representative Gary Click today announced the Ohio House successfully passed The SAM Act (Student Athlete Mobility Act), sending it to the Governor’s desk for a signature. Championed by Reps. Click and King, the SAM Act, will work to give students the ability to participate in sports not offered at their home school.
“Every voice matters, and The SAM Act is in response to an email from a local student who otherwise would lose the opportunity to participate in his favorite sport during his senior year. No student athlete should be limited by their zip code. This is a part of the fulfilling my role as a State Representative: making good things happen for local constituents” said Rep. Click.
The SAM Act, which was amended into Senate Bill 276, allows students to participate in team sports and other extracurricular activities at a neighboring school when those opportunities are not offered at their own school. Smaller schools who cannot field a team alone, now have the opportunity to combine in order to provide opportunities for their students. Eligible activities include sports such as baseball, basketball, football, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball, as well as any extracurricular activity that requires participation by multiple students.
This bill now heads to the Governor’s Desk.
