State Rep. Steve Demetriou Awarded American Legion Legislator of the Year

State Representative Steve Demetriou (R-Bainbridge) today announced that the American Legion recognized him as Ohio’s 2025 Legislator of the Year, honoring both his service to our nation as a veteran and his continued leadership in advancing initiatives that support veterans and their families at the state level.
“I am truly honored to be named the American Legion Department of Ohio 2025 Legislator of the Year,” said Demetriou. “Supporting our veterans and their families remains a top priority, and I will continue working to ensure they receive the recognition, resources, and care they deserve.”
The American Legion advocates for veterans and active-duty personnel, mentors the youth, and strengthens communities. Representative Demetriou was selected for this award in recognition of his distinguished service to our nation as a veteran and his dedicated leadership as a state legislator.
During his time in the Army, Demetriou completed Army Ranger and Airborne training. He served in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service.
Now, in his second term in the Ohio House of Representatives, Demetriou serves as Majority Whip and sits on the House Development, Small Business, Technology and Innovation, and Ways and Means committees.
