State Rep. Heidi Workman Announces Ravenna City School District Awarded Funding Through Classroom Facilities Assistance Program

State Representative Heidi Workman (R-Rootstown) is pleased to share that Ravenna City Local School District was awarded and selected to participate in the Classroom Facilities Assistance Program. This announcement is the result of the Ohio Controlling Board's approval during their meeting on Monday.  

"This is a significant investment in the future of Ravenna. This new addition to the high school will provide students and teachers with the modern learning environment they deserve while strengthening our community for years to come,” said Workman. “I appreciate the partnership of the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission and the Ohio Controlling Board in making this project a reality.”

Through the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC), approved by the Ohio Controlling Board, Ravenna City School District will receive over $35 million to add on to the high school, which will house grades PK-12. The budget also includes dollars to abate and demolish three elementary schools and one middle school. 

In Senate Bill 450, Ohio’s Capital Budget Bill, the state allocated $600 million for local school building assistance through the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, ensuring Ohio students have access to high-quality learning environments. 

The Ohio Controlling Board oversees requests for changes to budgetary authority for state agencies.

The OFCC oversees the administration of capital improvement projects for state agencies and state-supported institutions of higher education; manages Ohio’s school facility programs that provide support for the construction and renovation of public K-12 schools; and administers funding for local community-based cultural and sports facilities projects.
