State Rep. Gary Click Introduces the 1984 No More Act

State Representative Gary Click (R-Vickery) today introduced a new piece of legislation, the 1984 No More Act, which works to address the growing concerns surrounding Flock Cameras. 

“While recognizing the clear advantages that Flock Cameras provide for law enforcement, many others and I share grave concerns about establishing an infrastructure for a surveillance system capable of stripping the right to privacy from everyday citizens. I am closely monitoring other pending legislation that will either regulate or completely ban the use of Flock Cameras,” said Click. “However, in the meantime, I feel that it is essential to place a strategic pause on their use until we can hear more from the public and implement more comprehensive legislation.”

The 1984 No More Act would establish a 12-month moratorium on the use of Flock cameras, subject to a limited number of clearly defined exceptions for use. These exceptions would include the following:

• AMBER Alert 
• SILVER Alert
• The Endangered Missing Child Alert
• The Endangered Missing Adult Alert 
• The BLUE Alert 
• Use by ICE Agents for the purpose of enforcing duly enacted immigration laws

This bill awaits a number and committee assignment.
