State Rep. David Thomas Provides Sponsor Testimony for H.C.R 24 and H.B. 706

State Representative David Thomas (R-Jefferson) recently provided sponsor testimony for House Concurrent Resolution 24 and House Bill 706.
Rep. Thomas provided sponsor testimony before the House Government Oversight Committee for House Concurrent Resolution 24 – legislation that declares a national debt security threat and urges congress to take action.
“The Federal Debt is simply out of control and will cost our taxpayers and our state more and more to correct it the longer we go,” said Rep Thomas in testimony. “This resolution gives Ohio’s formal support for action to decrease that debt.”
If enacted, this resolution shows Ohio’s support for addressing the problem and can be used as the backing for change our federal partners need.
Rep. Thomas also provided sponsor testimony for House Bill 706 – legislation imposing a certain minimum requirement on data center customers so that the cost to electrify the centers is not born by current consumers.
“My district alone has already this year had several entities ban data centers and more are on their way. We must look at the frustrations of our citizens, address them, and lower the reasons why communities would say no to good union construction jobs, high paying technology positions, and a large potential payer into the local tax base,” said Thomas.
