Speaker Huffman Issues Statement on Governor DeWine's Appointment of Husted to Fill U.S. Senate Seat
COLUMBUS—Ohio House Speaker Matt Huffman (R-Lima) today released a statement regarding Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s appointment of Lt. Governor Jon Husted to fill the open U.S. Senate seat.
“I first had the opportunity to work with Jon Husted as a new legislator in the Ohio House when he was Speaker, and over the years, we’ve had a great, productive working relationship and have been able to get a lot done for the people of Ohio. There is no one more qualified to be our next U.S. Senator.
“Jon is a thoughtful, commonsense decision maker and forward-thinking leader who will bring a wealth of knowledge about the issues that matter most to Ohioans. He has the unique ability to build relationships wherever he goes and is never one to back down from a challenge, whether it’s tackling a complex piece of legislation or bringing opposing sides together to compromise on a tough issue.
“I fully support and commend Governor DeWine for appointing Jon Husted as our newest U.S. Senator. Alongside Senator Bernie Moreno, they will be a formidable team in representing Ohioans in Washington and promoting a strong, conservative agenda.”
