Today the conference committee on Amended Substitute House Bill 59—the state operating budget—voted to adopt the committee report and move the legislation to the Ohio House and Ohio Senate floors.

Regarding the adoption of the conference committee report, Chairman of the House Finance and Appropriations Committee Ron Amstutz (R-Wooster) released the following statement:

“The conference committee report on Am. Sub. H.B. 59 includes comprehensive reforms to Ohio’s state government and invests in the things that matter most to Ohioans. Members of the House Finance and Appropriations Committee as well as members of the Senate Finance Committee devoted a great deal of time and energy into constructing a budget bill that is responsible, sustainable and fiscally sound. This is a very large policy document and we look forward to continuing the discussion as both chambers debate and vote on the conference report in the coming days.”

The following statement can be attributed to Vice Chairman of the House Finance and Appropriations Committee Jeff McClain (R-Upper Sandusky):

“This budget is a culmination of many people working to strengthen Ohio’s improving economy. We are also continuing to improve the well-being of all of our citizens, especially the young, aged and needy. This budget will provide for a more prosperous Ohio and a bright future for all Ohioans.”
