Representative David Thomas Highlights Ohio Statehouse Transportation Grant Program

COLUMBUS – State Representative David Thomas (R-Jefferson) today announced that the application for the Ohio Statehouse Transportation Grant will be open September 4 until September 13 at 11:59 p.m. 

“Last year, we were able to welcome high school students from Geneva High School to the Statehouse through this grant program,” said Representative Thomas. “It was great to see them get firsthand experience with their state government. I want to make sure other schools in our district can have that same opportunity. These grants help take the cost of transportation out of the equation and make it easier for students to come to Columbus, see the Statehouse, and learn how their government works. I encourage schools throughout the 65th District to take advantage of this program and apply for this year’s grants.” 

The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board (CSRAB) will award 180 grants to schools across Ohio, helping cover the cost of school bus transportation to the Ohio Statehouse and its museum. Grants will be awarded evenly among three categories based on one-way travel from the applicant's school to the Ohio Statehouse:  

• 0 to 50 miles (60 grants)
• 51 to 100 miles (60 grants)
• 101+ miles (60 grants)
   

Only schools that receive state funding are eligible to apply.
